Who is going to win this year’s race on the Streif?
20.01.2017
The world’s best skiers have been drawn to Tirol again to take on the challenge presented by the Streif. But who will win this year’s race for the golden „Gams“ trophy?
Norway’s Jansrud won the shortened version of the Downhill in Kitzbühel two years ago and is in a league of his own in the speed disciplines this season. The 31-year old has already celebrated four triumphs this season and is quite justified in harbouring hopes for a little crystal globe for the best downhill skier. Interwetten bookmakers have also pinned Jansrud as the favourite to win the Downhill in Kitzbühel.
Austrian contenders such as Hannes Reichelt, Matthias Mayer and Max Franz are also warranted in having high hopes of a triumph in Kitzbühel. Super-G world champion, Hannes Reichelt, also rates highly with the bookmakers. The 36-year-old was impressive in training, despite the Super-G not going exactly to plan.
Max Franz is another favourite for the Downhill. After his first downhill victory in Val Gardena, the Corinthian has plenty to be confident about in Kitzbühel and has high hopes of a second consecutive victory.
